Each Red Tree painting is different–a product of its place in the sequence of this artistic journey. This was a commission for someone who found me via a friend attracted to my Red Tree series. However, he didn’t care for red, wasn’t sure about the gold, and wanted some water. 

I actually painted Blue Beyond to respond to his preferences, but I also painted a red version, Beyond. Guess which one he adopted…the red one!

My sister and patron, Elaine, donated this painting to her institution, the University of Washington School of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology.
