To commemorate a milestone… 

My youngest sister, Leslie, made a birthday request which inspired me to consider nail-polish as a major medium in my work. I use a special nail polish which has shards of holographic tinsel that flash different colors, depending on the angle of the light. I think of this as a simulation of the motion and refraction of dragon-fly wings–an abstraction of movement, if you will. This painting began a series of milestone paintings and a body of dragonfly paintings.
