The Babylonia

The Babylonia began with a simple concept: use a strip of fabric to bisect a background. Next, the clear, vertical ribbon was painted and the side “branches” were cleared with solvent and repainted. Finally, the circles were cleared with solvent and painted, one by one. This series is named because the colors reminded me of the sun-baked, glazed Babylonian wall reliefs I saw at The Louvre when I was young and the mythical past they they represented to me.
